About CovForLife
Helping families understand life insurance, clearly and calmly.
CovForLife is an independent educational publisher. We explain how life insurance works so the people who rely on it can make informed, unhurried decisions.
Our mission
Life insurance is one of the most caring financial decisions a person can make. It is also one of the least understood.
Contracts are long, the terminology is unfamiliar, and much of the information people come across is written to sell a product. CovForLife exists to close that gap. Our mission is to give people clear, balanced and accurate explanations of how life insurance works, so they can protect the people they love with confidence and without pressure.
What CovForLife covers
We focus on the questions people ask most often when they are thinking about coverage for the first time, or reviewing coverage they already have:
- How policies work, including term, whole life and other forms of permanent coverage.
- Estimating coverage, with practical methods and clearly labeled hypothetical examples.
- Beneficiaries and paperwork, from designations to keeping records easy to find.
- Life stages, and how needs tend to change from a first job to retirement.
- Later-life planning, including final expense coverage and its alternatives.
- Questions to ask before choosing or replacing a policy.
You can find every guide on our guides page.
Our editorial standards
Every guide we publish is held to the same principles.
Accuracy first
We explain how things generally work in the United States, and we say so when rules vary by state or by policy.
Grounded in public sources
We check our explanations against consumer materials from state insurance regulators and federal consumer protection agencies.
Plain language
We define terms when they first appear and prefer short, direct sentences to industry jargon.
Independence
We do not accept payment to mention, include or rank any company or product.
No hype
We never promise prices, approval or outcomes, and examples that use numbers are labeled as hypothetical.
Clear limits
Our guides are educational. For decisions about your own situation, we encourage you to speak with a licensed professional.
How guides are reviewed and kept current
Before a guide is published, it is checked for accuracy, clarity and tone, and its factual statements are compared with official consumer sources wherever they exist. Because insurance rules and common practices change, we treat each guide as a living document:
- Every guide shows a Last reviewed date near its title.
- We revisit every guide at least once a year.
- We update a guide sooner when a law, regulation or common practice it describes changes.
- When a reader reports a possible error, we check it and correct the guide if needed.
